Expanding Options is based in New Castle, Delaware and expanded to Kent County, Delaware in 2020.
As caregivers, we felt there was a void in our neurodiverse adult children's lives. Seeking to bring about social connections for that community and their caregivers, we began monthly meetings that are informational regarding what is happening in and available to our specific community. These meetings also provide a chance for social interaction, celebrating monthly birthdays, and information gathering and giving for future events.
ExpO New Castle meets regularly for bowling, but participates in many other activities. Past events have included disc golfing, beach clean-up, Sojourner's Place brunch cook, car washes and trips to DC and the Franklin Institute.
It is our goal to involve our high-functioning neurodiverse adults in activities that promote social interaction but also bring positive input into their lives and those who care for them.
Expanding Options is a Delaware 501c3 non-profit serving the needs of adults 18 and older to improve their quality of life and expand options for them and their families.
As a nonprofit caregiver-led group, Expanding Options works to grow a social network for neurodiverse high-functioning adults in Delaware. Various opportunities for interaction are provided through different activities and monthly meetings.
ExpO also helps the adults and their families become aware of disability issues within the community and to help foster advocacy.
